MMW#7: Autumnal Colours + Decoart + 1st Youtube video!

Hi there!

It's been so long since I wrote a blog post here! I'm so glad you have not deserted me! :) I apologise for the absence, I have many important things going on in my life right now and working tirelessly toward the end goal! I can promise one thing and that is ... once I have reached my end goal you will be seeing more of my art and other crafty makes and I will be sharing more than that with you! So please bare with me :)

Today, there is a new challenge starting at our Mixed Media World blog. Laine would like you to create anything mixed media as long as you use colours of autumn. How nice and simple is that?! You don't need to create anything autumnal, just use the colours that the beautiful season brings along.

I love the browns, greens, reds, oranges and yellows of trees.. the darks and the grungy colours of damp leaves and soil... I decided to go grungy all the way and added some rusty looking areas for good measure,, ha!

Apart from the black gesso, all paints and media used here are by Decoart. I actually videoed my process so that I can learn how to put together a youtube video. If this works out I will create some video tutorials for you. I will try to work on it so I can share it with you soon! ***edited: I have just posted a quick video with a new fun technique using a foil and embossing folder... a faux distressed letterpress technique'... I will post more soon! :) Enjoy!

Now back to the painty background I played with,...

It was a great fun! I used my brayer and my palette knife to create the background. This is not my usual way of creating textures or my usual process of creating. I love texture (more the better as far as I'm concerned), but this time I tried something different, experimented and decided to create interesting areas, played with paints and stenciling using Andy Skinner's stencils (also Decoart range) & his background texture stamps (stampendous). I really enjoyed it and already look forward to exploring this way of creating more. I have to practice more, but this is a start, right? :)

You're probably asking what the heck it is... well, I am currently in love with the gorgeously rusty images I've saved on my Pinterest board called 'Rusty Gorgeousness' and was inspired to create something similar... :)

Anyway, I hope you can join the challenge and hop over to Mixed Media World to see what my teamies were up to.. you will be amazed!!

Don't forget, there is a prize for the winner too! £15 online discount if you shop with Glitzcraft! Give it a go! ;)

Thank you for stopping by! Hugs,

Ingrid xxx
