Christmas Fairy Wishes - art journaling

Merry Christmas!

A little late with my blog post, I realise, but I totally blame the beast that did not want to cook on Christmas Day!

Just a quick note to wish you all a wonderful festive time! I want to thank all who took time to visit my blog and leave me comments, I appreciate your support! I also want to thank you for inspiring me with your crafty makes, you are all so talented and inventive! You never seize to amaze me!
I would also like to say that I feel blessed as I have found many wonderful friends through blogging and I look forward to making more in 2015!

I have many wonderful things happening in 2015, have plans to bring you some more exciting arts and crafts and a wish to inspire more of you to be creative!

Today, I would like to share my art journaling with you. It is a hand-drawn whimsical Christmas Fairy wishing nothing by 'Peace on the Earth, for Love from one to another, wealth to the poor, health to the sick, compassion for the sinners and food and home for the less fortunate...'

The drawing is a combination of Big brush pens, Aquarelle pencils, both by Faber-Castell, stickles, Micron pens, my white Posca pen, some white acrylic paint, Cosmic Shimmer white pearl PVA glue for 'snow'... and my own imagination! :)

Wow! Embossing Powders - Day 2

Hi there!
Believe it or not I am back! Yesterday I showed you what I got up to at the weekend (you can find the post HERE). You didn't get to see the whole lot of crafty goodness I got to play with so I am back today to show you more and do hope you like it...

I made a fun artsy card using my Brushos (I adore the stuff!). The front panel was stamped with my background Hero Arts Clock stamp and heat embossed using the gorgeous Metallic Copper EP. The inside of the clocks was bleached for contrast and the edges sponged using the Walnut Stain Distress ink...

 The finished card after bleaching...

For the love of Wow!

Hey lovelies!

Big welcome to my new lovely followers! Thank you for joining me here!

How are you all doing? I've been watching your gorgeous creations popping up in my blogger feed and been wanting to explore more! You're such a talented bunch!

I have something for you too today! It is quite late in a day, I realise, but I had so much fun over the weekend there's a lot to show you. Before I do I would like to say a BIG Thank You to Tania from Wow! Embossing Powders for the wonderful Happy Mail that she sent me. I am very grateful for your generous gift! xxx

If you have followed my blog for a while you will know that Wow! EPs play a big role in my crafting and are my most frequent choices. I was trying to find a really nice golden EP and Tania offered to send me some for me to try. Not only that she send me a whole bunch of gorgeous shades of golden EPs but also added some others from their wonderful selection of regular powders. There are so many brands and so many types of EPs it can sometime be overwhelming when it comes to choosing just that ONE! I would like to make it easy for you so I will simply show you what Wow! offers and how it cam be used. I decided to break it up into a few posts over a few days and I hope you will enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoyed creating with these powders.

The selection...

If you read my guest post you know that I promised to reveal three tips on how to create these branches, how to make a custom coloured seal like the one here (or anything else you desire) and how to add a touch of subtle sparkle to your grungy distressed background. I shall tell tell so read on...

Speed Craft Challenge #8: Butterflies

Hi there!

How's everyone? I just want to say... I have seen your gorgeous projects, they are ALL amazing, you are such a talented bunch! I just haven't been able to find time to comment. I will be more free this weekend so I will be in touch then! Sorry I've been a bit quiet! I would also like to welcome my newest blog buddies, thank you for joining me here!

Thank you for stopping by today! There's a new challenge starting on our Speed Craft Challenge Blog and our lovely Laine has chosen a sweet theme, my favourite:

Excited? I was! Here's what I prepared...

The phone is letting the card down! I will take a new one on Saturday when I have a better light and my next task is to get a light box or make one at the very least! This winter darkness is unbearable... now I work from am to pm I don't actually get to see the light of the day..

The card base and the panel are very simple, a white cardstock cut to size...
I stamped my Jumbo butterfly (Stampendous), cut it out (this took ages, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack when I got to the anthenas!!), anyway, wiped the sweat off , piled on the poor sod some Light Modeling Paste by Liquitex (love this stuff!), sprinkled some frantage (Stampendous, blue), heated, sprinkled some more on the card front and heated... stamped onto a left over white card strip (tim holtz - notice the lower case letters  *wink, wink*), made holes for the brads, adhered it all togehter... a voila! Done! I forgot to take a pic of my timer again!! Sorry, the timer was showing 14:53 mins (it was a squeeze! My butterfly had to finish drying too, but it was done as far as I was concerned...)

Well, your turn! Show us what you've got! That's what I call a challenge! Have a go... hop over to our blog (click on the badge)...

Thank you for stopping by! Big bear hugs to you all!

Eclectic Ellapu challenge: 'Vintage Christmas'

I hope you are well? I enjoyed my first week at my new job and had a full-on weekend! Each day was a bit crazy. Monday was my first day, Tuesday was rather interesting, Wednesday night was spent at a local a&e with Chloe after she bashed her head, Thursday was ok, but busy and I woke up with a big cold sore on my lip probably because of the stress on Wednesday. I went to the Hobby & Craft, Art  & Christmas show in London on Saturday, had the pleasure of meeting Leona from GlitCraft at the show, bought heaps of stuff there (can't wait to play with it all) and enjoyed my Sunday with the family visiting the local Winter Wonderland event. The kids enjoyed the rides, we had some lovely food and mulled wine form the stalls... very, very busy week!

It is 1st December! Goodness! Christmas is coming! Talking about Christmas and 1st December ... today is a very special day! A brand new challenge is starting over at the Eclectic Ellapu challenge blog where  my lovely teamies and I share our creations for this month's challenge. I am very excited and honoured to be a part of this fun! I hope you can play along with our challenge:

My wonky Christmas tree

I'm back with the second card, as promised! My first one is HERE, in case you missed it...

Just like the first one, this card was made with a border stamp from the same Recollections stamp set. This time I used Pear Tart, Teal Zeal and New Sprout Memento inks to create my Christmas tree. I added some Diamond Stickles to it as well as to the edges.... one never has enough sparkle on a Christmas card and besides, this stickles stuff is very addictive... I can barely stop once I've started :)

Challenges entered:
Craft Stamper Magazine - Take It, Make It: November (use non-christmas stamps to create a christmas card)
Try It on Tuesdays - Christmas is coming
"Less is more" - Jingle all the way (anything Christmasy)

Thank you for visting! I will be back with something fun hopefully soon! Can't wait to read your comments! I appreciate every single one of them!

Big hugs,

Ingrid xxx

Clever masking

Hi, lovely people!

I'd like to thank you for all your sweet comments recently! It is not easy to adjust to a full-time job, leaving the babies at home, but coming home to such sweet comments makes things so much better :) I will be visiting shortly myself... before I do though I have two last minute cards that I've been wanting to show you since the weekend, but couldn't. Why, you ask... it's so dark when I get up and I come home in a dark again... I simply cannot seem to take a decent photo! Time to get or make a light box! Well, I took pics this morning, they are not as light and bright as I'd like, but they will give you an idea of what the cards look like... I say CARDS, because I have two to show you. I promised, right?! ;) I will do it separate posts though so I can enter them into a challenge I made them for...

These cards were made with the Craft Stamper Challenge in mind. The design was created using a border stamp by Recollections and my Memento Inks. Let me tell you a little bit about my card no 1...

Joy the world...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend? What a freezing cold day it was today here in London! I'm taking my winter puffy fluffy parka tomorrow morning! It was my first day in my new job today and it was a great day! All colleagues are lovely and after sitting two fun test required by the agency I had some fun getting to know their systems... more to be done tomorrow! I missed the blogland though because my blackberry is on the way out and no longer displays pictures, doesn't lock and getting online is always accompanied by a prayer followed by a massive fail! I'm definitely getting an iphone soon! I will then be able to keep in touch with you all more once I have one... for now, I will be probably a bit quiet during my days and will be catching up later at night. Please bare with me!

Today I have a quick post for you where I'd like to share a wintery card which I made the other day...

My Whimsical Christmas Girl

How are you all doing? What a day I've had today!!! Absolutely crazy, but good crazy! Very good! :)

You know how much I love journaling, but you may have noticed that I haven't shown you much of that of late. I like to draw faces and I love sketching just for myself... there are things that I share and that I don't as much... there is a lovely challenge over the **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* (I hope I got the stars right :)) called 'Inspired by Masters'. I have been dying to join Susi's challenge for some time and when I found out about Valerie's choice of a theme I thought I'd have a go.... this time i decided to share! Not only because I got inspired by

Dear Anonymous...

Hello there!

I just got back from my job interview which went well, I think, so fingers crossed! I will find out tomorrow...

I got back and received many lovely comments in response to my Craft Stamper card which you seem to like. Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate your time! Your sweet comments keep me going so keep them coming! There was one comment left by 'Anonymous' which could be a spam, but I feel that is left by someone who clearly has too much time on their hands to tell me this:

My go at the Craft Stamper challenge

Hello, crafty people!

I hope you are all well? A big warm welcome to my new followers! It's so great to have you close by! I hope you will enjoy my posts... x

I have a very quick post for you today, possibly two quick posts, if you're lucky ;)

I have been wanting to join the new Craft Stamper November challenge: 'Use a non Christmas stamp to create a Christmas themed image!'

First, I made a card where I created a tree, white embossed on a light gorgeous purple Brusho background. By the time I finished the card it looked like a work of a school kid that made a card for his Mummy with no Christmas stamps! BECAUSE it wasn't made with a Christmas stamp! Off to bin it went... I don't give up easily though so I made a wreath with the stamp... nope! It looked ok, but it wasn't ME! Back to the drawing board!

In the end I came up with a totally different design which I would like to share with you today and I hope you will appreciate the fact that it wasn't created using a Christmas stamp.

Twelve Tags of Christmas: My Winter Wonderland Tag

Hello friends!

Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas event is well on the way and you have seen some amazing creations from my fellow guest designers and today is my turn to share my creation that I made for this special event!

Loll will share her and my tag on her gorgeous blog Stamping with Loll where you can also find links to the previous tags.

I thought to myself, a special occasion deserves a special crafty make so I really took some time to create this tag and I hope you will appreciate all details...

Crafty Catz Challenge: Ribbon & Lace

I can't believe how swiftly this week has gone by! Some of you have asked about my recovery so thank you for asking, I'm slowly getting there! It's been three weeks and possibly one of the worst. I was in a lot of pain especially when eating, drinking, swallowing,.. you know, the usual every second or so tasks... so I was on some Ibuprofen and some magical opium based pain killers which happened to mess up my stomach, in the end made me sick so I had to stop taking them all and just soldier through it. You don't want to throw up when you just had your tonsils out, it HURTS! Three weeks later, I'm off the devilish pills as the pain is manageable and am eating, drinking and starting to job hunt! Am I glad I did it? Heck yeah! And yes, I am job hunting... before Christmas... call me crazy :) Property Management, here I come! Don't worry, I shall be keeping my blog ;)

There's a new challenge kicking off this morning over at the Crafty Catz Challenge blog! Our talented Naomi has chosen a lovely theme: 'Ribbon & Lace'

Crafty Catz Challenge: Anything Goes

Hello and Happy Halloweeeeeeen! Mwaahaahaaaa!

It's Friday again! Where does the time go?!

This week's challenge over at the Crafty Catz is 'Anything Goes' and was chosen by our sweet Carol, the best boss lady ever :) It is Halloween and I know I should have made something fitting, but I am somehow in a Christmas mood and for me making Christmas cards is a sweet reminder that Crimbo is just around the corner! I can't wait! Before I show you what I made for this challenge I would like to mention that we have TWO sponsors this week:

My Dragonfly art CASEd by Janine

Hi there!

I have something special for you today! I was recently contacted by a lovely lady called Janine! She happened to see my 'Dragonfly' artwork on Marjie Kemper's lovely website and decided to CASE it. Well, Janine contacted me to show me her masterpiece and I was absolutely amazed by her wonderful work...

How amazing is this?! Just to remind you, here's my piece...

Janine even used my technique where you mix a clear embossing powder with gesso to create a paste that you that heat up until it bubbles a little. Once you've added some inks or other water based colour to your project the embossed parts will act as a resist and create additional texture. Those white embossed bubbled areas almost highlight the raised parts... hard to explain,.. just give it a go! Try it for yourself! You can see my original post HERE

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Janine for showing me her amazing artwork/card and want her to know that I feel very flattered and honoured that she has taken the time and made an effort to CASE one of my creations! Thank you, Janine!

Boo! ...tag using my new Cling Film Emboss technique...

Hi there! Me again! :)

Have you had a chance to play yet? No?! Need more inspiration? Well, as promised earlier on today here's the Halloween tag where I used my newly found technique that I simply call 'Cling Film Emboss'.. catchy, I know, but I couldn't think of anything fancier :)

Once I heat embossed the pattern created using my cling film and the Distress Embossing powder (Rust) I added some more Distress Inks, sponging, splatters and some stamping using Tim Holtz Stamps...

TECHNIQUE ALERT!!! - Cling film emboss

I'm very excited to share a new technique with you! I came up with it yesterday when I was showing my dear Mum something whilst crafting. I got the idea and had to try it right away and to my delight... it worked! And it worked beautifully! It is soooo simple and effective you will really enjoy this one!

I'm going to show you a couple of backgrounds and the finished cards first and then I will talk you through the process...

There's a new challenge at the Crafty Catz challenge blog today and the theme is 'Thank you!' and was chosen by our lovely Anna. How lovely! I knew I wanted to create something artsy and pretty and a little dreamy and hope I have achieved that, but before I show you I'd like to mention our generous sponsors and what you might win if you have a go at the challenge this week.

Speed Craft Challenge #5: Halloween

I am so late with this post it's not even funny! I had such a crazy day sorting out the girls' wardrobes, it was quite something... it took most of the day! How many clothes does a baby need for three months?!! But here I am and quite excited as I found out that my autumnal journal page was selected as one of the favourites at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog! Yay! Thank you! I shall display my new badge with pride! :)

It is time for a new challenge at the Speed Craft Challenge Blog and this time it is lovely Donna who has chosen our theme: Halloween! Mwuaahaahaaaaa! Are you scared yet? Don't be! we have adjusted the crazy 10 minute allowance to 15 minutes to give you a helping hand so don't let me hang in there and have a go! Join the fun! :)

Multicoloured Stamping

I hope you are well? Thank you for all your recent well wishes and kind comments. Reading them make me feel better already :)
I wish I could say that I have recovered from my surgery, but I couldn't be further from it. I am still in a lot of pain, have difficulty eating unless I take the strong pain killers that make me sleepy, very, very slow and totally useless. My throat is still covered in the yucky stuff and it is now 6/7th day after the operation... I had a really bad day yesterday. I collapsed on the bathroom floor followed by throwing up bloody water. I's been awful. I just have to battle through it so please bear with me...

I did manage to make one card inspired by the Craft Stamper Magazine and their current 'Take It, Make It' challenge 'Multicoloured Stamping'.

Crafty Catz Challenge: Black + one other colour

I'm scheduling this post so will keep it brief. By now I would have had my operation on 13th and am probably in a recovery mode. BUT...

It's finally Friday and time for a new challenge over at the Crafty Catz Challenge Blog! Exciting times :)

This week's challenge is called 'Black + one other colour' and was chosen by our sweet Aunty Sue (skin & hair colours on your image are allowed also white may be counted or not as a colour). Easy, right?

Recovery Mode

I'd like to thank you all for leaving sweet comments on my recent spooky creation and regarding my operation. It's so nice to hear from you. I appreciate you taking time to leave a comment. x

I had an operation on my throat on Monday which went well. I had my tonsils removed, but the surgeon found a cyst next to one of the tonsils and decided to remove it during the procedure. They sent it off for testing to see if it is not cancerous. I will have some news within the next 6 - 8 weeks.... hopefully a good one!

I'm currently in a recovery mode at home. My Mum is here looking after the girls. I am in a lot of pain so have to take some seriously strong painkillers. My throat looks like hell and I find it hard to eat and drink anything and the pain killers make this possible. However these pills make me feel very dizzy and sleepy meaning I haven't been able to create or visit your blogs very much.

Please bear with me for the meantime. Hopefully the antibiotics will help to clear my throat soon and the pain will ease so that I don't have to take the painkillers and get out of the zombie mode. :) I can barely see the screen as I type..

Bewaaaare!!! Poison!

Good morning!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend? Mine started rather unusually and everything hurts right now! I have a muscle ache all over...! I consider myself quite an intelligent person, but sometimes I do really stupid things and my Friday shopping escapade was one of them. To elaborate...

Greg was going to help out a friend down in the country on Saturday so wasn't able to do our weekly shop by car. So I thought.. We need some milk anyway I'll take the suitcase and put my weekly shop in there.. I've done our weekly shop before putting it all in a pushchair. Silly, but when our car stopped working that was the only way in order to avoid trotting all the way to the shop with the kids three times a week! No way! This suitcase is one of those soft on top but has wheels. So anyway, I put it on the bottom of my deep trolley, start packing my full bags into it at the till, go outside and then attempt to remove about 30kg bag out of the deep trolley!!!

Speed Craft Challenge #4: Ink Sprays & Spritzers

How are you today?

I'd like to welcome my lovely new followers. I hope you enjoy the journey... Thank you for joining me here!

If you are new to my blog then you will find that Keren Baker and I have recently got a few talented crafty souls together and set up a new blog called the Speed Craft Challenge. The idea is to create ANY type of creation (a tag, a card, an ATC, an art journal page, crochet something,... the possibilities are endless...) but you have only 10 mins to craft! The good thing is you can think about it first, gather your supplies and then hit the stopwatch. Our challenges are bi-weekly, every other Thursday and usually have a theme. This time it is Nikki's turn to pick a theme and her choice is 'Ink Sprays & Spritzers'. How cool is that?!

Featured by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer: Stencil Techniques

Balzer Designs

I hope you are having a good week? Mine's been a bit crazy so far, but very good indeed! My Mum arrived on Saturday, Chloe' is back to her energetic cheeky loud self and I have a super-exciting post for you today! Ha!

Firstly, I'd like to welcome my new blog buddies! So great that you joined me here! :) I hope you will enjoy my posts...

I have a slightly different post for you today. It is very special for me and I hope you will find some time to explore what I'm about to show you. I'd like to invite you to visit the Balzer Designs blog today, because what you will find there is my guest blog post! That's right!! It was my dear friend Donna who made me aware of Julie being curious about our favourite stenciling techniques. I left a comment on Julie's post and emailed her about my love for stenciling with oil pastels, stamping over stencils and creating fun backgrounds by removing colour knowing Julie wanted to start guest series about the subject. It was the most wonderful when Julie replied saying she loved the ideas and would like to feature them on her blog! Thank you, Julie! It is very much appreciated! I feel very honoured! xx

CAS Card with a Sequin Butterfly Embellishment

I promised you another post today so here it is. You can read my first post HERE.

I recently read a description of 'CAS' (clean and simple) style and one of those characteristics was to keep these kind of cards embellished to minimum. Well, I'm a giiiiirl! I like bling and I like shiny and I want my card to look pretty so I decided to be a little bit rebellious and came up with an idea. I thought... what if my focal point was some kind of a bling! Ha! It went from there...

Crafty Catz Challenge: All Sentimental

I'm sorry I'm a little late with my post for the Crafty Catz today! Needless to say that I didn't get to sleep much again and then had to dash to the Doctor again this morning (just got back), because Chloe' woke up with some red splotches/spots all over her face and her body. You can image I was worried, but the Doctor sent me home with a print out saying it is just a viral rash and a reaction to whatever she has had. So, I thought she was having those temperatures because of her teeth and now it is a viral rash? I'm trying really hard to trust the Doctor and crossing even my toes that this will pass soon. Poor thing, she is so tired too, clearly in pain because of her big teeth cutting through and now this 'viral' rash as well. She still manages to  be cheeky and crack a smile or two though :) She's such a sweet thing. She had a little sing along and a dance whilst watching bubble guppies this morning :)

Birthday Butterflies

Thank you for stopping by! This is a post no 200! Wow! What a crazy 9 months I've had :)

I'd like to welcome my new blog buddies! Thank you for joining me here! You're a fabulous and talented bunch! I hope you will enjoy my future posts.

What a week I've had so far!! There has been ups like winning the Top 3 at The Little Bit Crafty and downs like having to have to get a new washing machine and staring blankly at about 10 loads of washing whilst my younger daughter having 39*C+ temperatures for the last three days and nights and visibly in pain every night. I ended up not sleeping for three days and any sleep I got was sitting and holding her! I took her to the doctors on Tuesday, got some medicine and was asked to get a wee sample for them as they couldn't see any signs of an infection. Well, collecting a sample from a baby is easier said than done! They give you a sticky sachet to be attached and a nappy can be put on. Our first go was a massive failure as it all leaked out into her nappy, the second one she pooed on and the third go was a success! It turns out that there is not infection so it was probably her big teeth cutting through. My goodness!

Featured by Marjie Kemper

I have a very special post for you today!

I've known about the lovely Marjie Kemper for some time, but me being a newbie I didn't realise how much this talented artist and a teacher has to offer. It was a few weeks ago when I actually left a comment on her website and found myself in awe when an email from Marjie arrived asking if she could feature my 'Dragonfly' artwork on her fantastic series called 'Tuesday's Texture'! I cannot tell you how honoured I am today to be featured on her website. Thank you, Marjie, it means a lot!

Special post! Crafty Catz Challenge & Birthdays!

Good morning, lovely people! :)

Today is a good day! Sod the broken washer-dryer and sod the rainy is a good day! Exactly one year ago I got to hold the most precious bundle, my gorgeous little baby girl Chloe' for the first time in my arms! I remember sitting on my hospital bed, holding her and just looking at her promising her the world and not wanting to let go. What a special time it was and today we celebrate that special moment! In one year she has shown me what loving someone really mean and made me smile even when I didn't feel like it. She's grown from the helpless little soul in my arms into a clever, funny, cheeky, beautiful and loving little person. I am so grateful for every hug and giggle and for her being here with us, in our little family. Her big sister Isabella has been a darling and has been a great supporter of her little sibling. I'm so proud of them both!

I'd like to say a big thank you to my friends Donna and Aunty Sue who thought of her today and made stunning cards for Chloe'...

How gorgeous are they!! Thank you very much, Ladies, it touched my heart and these cards will be treasured so one day when she can read she can be reminded of her special day and that you were a part of it. xxx

It is a lovely coincidence that the Crafty Catz Challenge Blog is also celebrating a 5 year anniversary!!! Yay! Happy Anniversary, Crafty Catz! There's birthday all around! So join in and celebrate with us! Make a birthday card for our 'Birthdays' themed challenge!
